Security-First Redevelopment Brings Advanced Protection to Revitalized Syracuse Apartment Community

SYRACUSE, N.Y., June 23, 2026 – The developers of The Cortile have announced that they have completed the installation of an advanced, integrated security system designed to protect residents, visitors and property assets as the apartment community in Syracuse’s Valley neighborhood prepares to open its first building for leasing at the end of July 2026.

The security infrastructure has been installed across the 3.5-acre redevelopment, which will ultimately comprise four residential buildings containing 140 apartments. The first building is scheduled to begin leasing as construction and renovation efforts continue across the remainder of the property.

The completion of the security program marks a significant milestone in the transformation of a property that had previously been plagued by criminal activity and unauthorized occupancy. The developers have focused on creating a secure residential environment that will meet growing demand for high-quality rental housing in the greater Syracuse area, particularly as economic growth associated with Micron’s investment continues to reshape the region.

It is a foundational element of the redevelopment of our property and an important component of managing risk and delivering the quality of life and safety that today’s renters expect. The surrounding neighborhood has exhibited a decrease in petty crime and vagrancy as a result of The Cortile’s redevelopment and robust security posture.”

The security system includes 250 CCTV cameras positioned throughout the property and monitored around the clock by a professional security monitoring company. A property manager is also present onsite 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, the Cortile’s parking area is also protected by two CCTV cameras equipped with license plate recognition technology that permits access only to authorized tenant vehicles. Six-foot perimeter fencing has also been installed around the property.

The development team worked closely with emergency services to ensure rapid access during emergencies. Officers from Syracuse Police assigned to the sector in which the property is located have been provided with key fobs granting 24-hour access. Three lockboxes containing access fobs have also been installed for use by the Syracuse Fire Department during emergency responses. In addition, the parking gate is equipped with a sensor system that automatically opens for responding emergency vehicles when sirens are activated.

Backup power systems ensure continuous operation of the security infrastructure during electrical outages while maintaining unrestricted emergency-service access. The property’s integrated smoke and carbon monoxide detection system has already been inspected and approved without issue for code compliance.

“By integrating emergency access, surveillance and backup power into a unified system, we have created a property designed to remain operational and accessible when it matters most,” said Hoffman.

Upon completion, The Cortile will feature 62 one-bedroom apartments, 71 two-bedroom apartments and seven three-bedroom apartments surrounding a landscaped central courtyard. Residences will include gourmet kitchens with stone countertops, premium cabinetry and professional-grade stainless-steel appliances. Additional amenities will include private in-unit laundry, upscale bathrooms, a fitness center and thoughtfully designed communal gathering spaces.
